Municipal Data Analyst

Job Description:

Review municipal bond offering documents, continuing disclosure agreements and disclosure filings in order to conduct detailed 15c2-12 Continuing Disclosure reviews of municipal borrowers:

  • Analyze and determine critical parties to bond deals along with pertinent details regarding specific disclosure obligations
  • Research relationships between various municipal legal entities and obligors to ensure that all debt has been identified, across possible issuing vehicles
  • Research and analyze financial reports and other disclosure filings for their content as well as for inaccuracies in borrower submissions to regulators
  • Review and interpret system generated analyses, challenge those analyses, and improve upon them
  • Communicate with clients, prospects, issuers, data vendors and government agencies (includes presenting analyses, answering questions, etc.)
  • Opportunity to participate in the specification of enhancements to our various software applications
  • Conduct ad hoc municipal research and data querying, gathering and validation projects
  • Occasional review work performed by analysts

Qualifications/Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Finance, Public Policy, or other related field
  • Self-starter with high degree of initiative
  • Process-oriented, with focus on effectiveness and efficiency; highly organized; strong attention to detail and thoroughness
  • Exercise good judgement
  • Must have clear written and oral communication skills
  • Dedicated to quality and continuous improvement
  • Willingness to learn new things constantly by own initiative
  • Team member and works well independently
  • Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • Prior experience analyzing bond documents or other offerings a plus
  • Google docs a plus
  • MySQL query writing skills a plus
